May 5-6, 2006: Plano, TX: NexBank, SSB, was a presenting sponsor for the American Cancer Society Fourth Annual Relay For Life Plano. This event is a community gathering that provides an opportunity to remember those lost to cancer, provides a hope that those who face cancer will be supported and that one day cancer will be eliminated. The event took place at the ALCATEL grounds in Plano and was slated to cover 24hours. Each team must camp out during the 24 hours and have a team member on the track at all times – because cancer never sleeps.

The Relay For Life is one of many events to benefit the American Cancer Society. Each team is encouraged to fundraise before and during the event. The NexBank team held a raffle before and during the race to become a top fundraiser of the event. Davis Deadman, president and CEO of NexBank said, “This event not only provides a great event that the entire family can participate in but makes the most of an important opportunity for the American Cancer Society to make huge leaps and bounds in fundraising for much needed research and support for those who suffer from Cancer.”

In recognition of the bank’s presenting sponsorship, all NexBank employees wore specially designed purple tee shirts with the bank’s logo to support those living with cancer. This show of support is one example of how NexBank is committed to making a difference in the Metroplex community. NexBank is pleased to announce that the total raised funds for Team NexBank in 2006 was over $10,000 and will go towards the total raised in Plano RFL to over $90,000.
